Oatmeal Banana Plops... errr... Cookies!

If you are like me, you could be considered a bit of a cookie monster! Personally, cookies and I are in a love/hate relationship. I love them but I HATE what they do to my body. All that sugar and all those empty calories and they NEVER make me full.

When I learned this recipe for these healthy "cookies," I tried it right away and fell in love. I have tweaked it and, in my opinion, perfected it! They are perfect for all ages and can be tailor made to fit your families taste!

Ingredients:

1 cup plain oats (I use Quaker original)
2 large ripened bananas
5 TBSP add-in of choice

(^that's it)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray cookie sheet with non-stick spray or EVOO spray. In a bowl, mash two bananas into a paste. Stir in cup of quick oats. Mix thoroughly. Finally, stir in add-in of choice. Place cookies on non-stick baking sheet. Place in oven for 16-20 minutes. Allow plops to cool when done cooking. They will remain soft and yummy-gooey, even when cooled!

I love using dark chocolate chips ad my add-in. It is enough to satisfy my sweet tooth without loading the cookies down with calories!

Makes 12 plops. If 5 TBSP dark chocolate chips are used as the add-in, each plop is 72 calories! (<--- OMG that's low!).

Other Add-In Ideas:

  • Raisins
  • Dried Cranberries
  • Dried Blueberries
  • Dark Chocolate Chips
And one final tip: when your bananas start to get too brown, pop them in the freezer and use them for this snack!! These plops pack well in a plastic bag and a perfect for the cookie jar, a picnic, and even road trips!

Happy baking!!
