Find Your WHY Power

When people set out on any type of new journey, it is safe to say that there is usually a reason behind this new course they are choosing. Something is compelling them to start this new adventure or allow this change in their lives. This "something" that creeps in is also called a WHY.

I first learned about the power of the WHY when I began my weight loss journey and became a Beachbody coach. You see, WHYs are the driving force behind the start of something new. They are also the thing that will keep you going once the novelty wears off and there is no motivation left. I want to help you find your WHY, whether you are embarking on a weight loss journey or starting a new business venture or even if you just need a reason to keep doing what you are doing now!

Here is how we are going to start:

Close your eyes.

Imagine yourself succeeding at the goal you are working toward. You just lost the weight. You made the business work. You were able to become a full time coach. You were able to save enough money for your house. Whatever goal or journey you are working on, imagine achieving it.

When you close your eyes picture your life at that moment. What do you see? What do you feel? What are you thinking? Who is with you? What would you say to yourself?

Got it? Good. Write that down. Write everything you can remember about that vision down RIGHT NOW. That's the beginning of figuring out your true, deep-down, vulnerable, hairy-scary WHY that makes you cry.

Now that you have that vision you are going to be able to better formulate your WHY into words. My next question is, what is about that vision of success that makes this new journey or process worth it? WHY do you care about this thing that you want to accomplish? It is hard to put that in words, I know, so here are a few more questions that might help:

1. How will your self-confidence change when you achieve this goal?
2. How will your life be different when you achieve this goal?
3. Who around you will be affected positively when you achieve this goal?
4. What about your life now is making you want to achieve this goal?

When you answer these questions, do not hold back emotion. Be gut-wrenchingly honest with yourself about what you are unhappy with today and what about achieving this goal will change that. When you have your WHY written down, you will literally hold power in your hands.

When you start out on your new journey, read your why. When you feel excited about hitting your first milestone along the way, read it again. When you get discouraged, read it again. When your why becomes deeper and more concrete, update that paper and read it again. Read that WHY every day. It will drive you to achieve success in ways you didn't think were possible.

Good luck!!!
